The First Epistle of Peter or Peter 1 was written by the Apostle Peter around 60 A.D. The central theme of this book is persecution, which Peter knew all too well because he had also suffered the same fate as many other early Christians did.
He had been beaten, threatened, punished, and imprisoned because he preached the Word of God. Peter never lost his hope and faith in living a holy life while in the face of suffering, just like Jesus Christ. Peter had been with Jesus when He was alive and bore witness to His suffering. He encouraged other suffering Christians to do the same, as well.
