According to Christian tradition, St. Luke is the author behind the Gospel According to St. Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. He had been a physician, and didn’t know Jesus Christ personally (that’s why he wasn’t one of the Twelve Disciples like a lot of people believe). However, he abandoned the profession when he accompanied the Apostle Paul in his missionary journeys. Luke had the opportunity to interview a lot of people who had been eyewitnesses to the Lord’s teachings and miracles, and then wrote their experiences.
