Facts About Mark

Mark (or his full name John Mark) is the author of the Gospel of Mark, according to Christian tradition. He was a follower of Jesus Christ, probably during the former’s adolescent years, and at the time when Jesus was also in Jerusalem.

After the Lord’s Resurrection, and as His message was just starting to spread, Mark accompanied the Apostle Paul in his missions. Then, he traveled with the Apostle Peter in Rome, serving as his interpreter. Even when Peter was behind bars, Mark still stayed by him. Mark went on to write his own Gospel, and was eventually appointed bishop of Alexandria.
