The prophet Nahum wrote this book between 633 BC and 612 BC. In this book, God calls Nahum to prophesy judgment to Nineveh for the second time. Jonah was the first to do this, about 120 years ago. The city had gone back to its sinful ways after they repented back in Jonah’s day, and now they ignore Nahum and his message.
The prophet after Nahum, Zephaniah, also predicts the judgment of the city. Nineveh would be destroyed and obliterated within fifty years.
