An ossuary is a stone box that carries the bones of the dead after decomposition. The Ossuary of Caiaphas started as a curious chance at Jerusalem’s Peace Forest when a dump truck accidentally crashed into a tomb, leading to the discovery of a dozen ossuaries. One of these was the Ossuary of Joseph Caiaphas, the high priest who prosecuted Jesus in front of Pontius Pilate.
